To request that the Council Chief of Staff cause the preparation of a study on the feasibility of developing and installing quick response codes on current and future honorary street signs.

WHEREAS, upon information and belief of the Council, a “quick response code,” also known as a “QR code,” is a machine-readable optical label that contains information that can be accessed by scanners on various cell phones; and
WHEREAS, the Council is of the opinion that adding quick response codes to current and future honorary street signs would permit the interactive conveyance of information related to the contributions to the community concerning the subject of such honorary street signs; and
WHEREAS, the Council believes that it is in the best interests of the citizens of the city of Richmond that the Council request that the Council Chief of Staff cause the preparation of a study on the feasibility of developing and installing quick response codes on current and future honorary street signs;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND:
That the Council hereby requests that the Council Chief of Staff cause the preparation of a study on the feasibility of developing and installing quick response codes on current and future honorary street signs.
