To request that the Chief Administrative Officer cause to be conducted a study of the official zoning map for the purpose of designating the area known as the Carver neighborhood as a design overlay district.

WHEREAS, upon information and belief of Council, residents of and businesses located within the area known as the Carver neighborhood, the boundaries of which are North Belvedere Street on the east, West Leigh Street on the north, Bowe Street on the west, and West Broad Street on the south, (hereinafter referred to as the “Carver Neighborhood”), have expressed the desire to protect the character of that neighborhood and its history by designating such area as a design overlay district; and
WHEREAS, the Council believes that it is in the best interests of the residents and businesses located in the Carver Neighborhood that the Council request that the Chief Administrative Officer cause to be conducted a study of the official zoning map for the purpose of designating the Carver Neighborhood as a design overlay district;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND:
That the Council hereby requests that the Chief Administrative Officer cause to be conducted a study of the official zoning map for the purpose of designating the Carver Neighborhood as a design overlay district.
