RE: TO DECLARE THAT A PUBLIC NECESSITY EXISTS AND TO AUTHORIZE THE CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER (CAO) OR DESIGNEE THEREOF, TO ACCEPT IN FEE SIMPLE ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY FOR RIGHT OF WAY PURPOSES AND EASEMENTS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF ALLEY BETWEEN 26TH STREET AND 27TH STREET FROM T STREET TO S STREET.

PURPOSE: To declare that a public necessity exists for the acquisition of right-of-way and easements for the construction of alley between 26th St. and 27th St. from T St. to S St. as shown in plats prepared by Surveying and Mapping, LLC designated as DPW Dwg. No. N-28541.

REASON: Additional right of way and easements are required to construct the proposed alley.

RECOMMENDATIONS: Department of Public Works recommends approval of this ordinance.

BACKGROUND: North model block is located at Church Hill area between 26th St. & 27th St. and S St. & T St. Most of the lots within the block are vacant. The project will restore the physical character of the neighborhood and complement other future projects in the area.
