To request that the Chief Administrative Officer cause the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Facilities to consult with the Office of the City Attorney concerning the preparation of the necessary documents to place Samuel Pleasants Parsons Linear Park under the protection of a conservation easement as state law defines that term and to present such documents to the Council as soon as possible after receipt of the requisite grantee name, legal description, and drawings depicting the metes and bounds of Samuel Pleasants Parsons Linear Park.

WHEREAS, Samuel Pleasants Parsons Linear Park contributes to the quality of life of city residents; and
WHEREAS, the pressures of development and economic stress may from time to time lead to proposals for the City’s consideration that could result in the conveyance or leasing of the Samuel Pleasants Parsons Linear Park property, or portions thereof, to governmental or private parties for development and other uses; and

WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City of Richmond that Samuel Pleasants Parsons Linear Park be placed under the protection of a conservation easement as state law defines that term;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND:
That the Council hereby requests that the Chief Administrative Officer cause the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Facilities to consult with the Office of the City Attorney concerning the preparation of the necessary documents to place Samuel Pleasants Parsons Linear Park under the protection of a conservation easement as state law defines that term and to present such documents to the Council as soon as possible after receipt of the requisite grantee name, legal description, and drawings depicting the metes and bounds of Samuel Pleasants Parsons Linear Park.
