To request that the Chief Administrative Officer cause to be conducted a study of the official zoning map for the purpose of expanding the Jackson Ward Old and Historic District to further protect the character and history of additional historic areas and structures.
Body
WHEREAS, upon information and belief of Council, residents of and businesses located within the Jackson Ward Old and Historic District, the boundaries of which are set forth in section 30-930.5:14 of the Code of the City of Richmond (2020), as amended, have expressed the desire to protect the character of that neighborhood and its history by expanding the current boundaries of such district; and
WHEREAS, the Council believes that it is in the best interests of the residents of and businesses located within the Jackson Ward Old and Historic District that the Council request that the Chief Administrative Officer cause to be conducted a study of the official zoning map for the purpose of expanding the Jackson Ward Old and Historic District to further protect the character and history of additional historic areas and structures;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND:
That the Council hereby requests that the Chief Administrative Officer cause to be conducted a study of the official zoning map for the purpose of expanding the Jackson Ward Old and Historic District to further protect the character and history of additional historic areas and structures.
