To designate the corner of 300 North 11th Street and East Broad Street in honor of the late Lindsey Grizzard Braun. (8th District)

WHEREAS, upon information and belief of the Council, Lindsey Grizzard Braun was born in Mechanicsville, Virginia, in November, 1992, and passed away in August, 2023; and
WHEREAS, upon information and belief of the Council, Lindsey Grizzard Braun graduated from James Madison University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and earned a Doctor of Nursing Practitioner from the University of Virginia; and
WHEREAS, upon information and belief of the Council, Lindsey Grizzard Braun worked for nine years in the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System as a nurse practitioner where she was known for her unwavering dedication and compassion in caring for her patients and their families; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to memorialize the life of Lindsey Grizzard Braun for her contributions to the medical health and well-being of the residents of the city of Richmond and beyond by designating the corner of 300 North 11th Street and East Broad Street in her honor; and
WHEREAS, because this designation is honorary only, the provisions of sections 8-7 through 8-10 of the Code of the City of Richmond (2020), as amended, do not apply to the designation made hereby or to any signs erected pursuant to this ordinance;
NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY OF RICHMOND HEREBY ORDAINS:
? 1. Designation of Street Block for Honorary Name. The corner of 300 North 11th Street and East Broad Street shall be designated as "Lindsey Grizzard Braun Way" in honor of Lindsey Grizzard Braun, pursuant to this ordinance, with placement of the sign at the corner of 300 North 11th Street and East Broad Street.
? 2. Effect of Designation. The designation of the portion of the street made pursuant to this ordinance shall be honorary only, shall not replace the existing name of the street, and shall have no effect...
