To designate and establish certain City-owned property known as 6008 Rear Howard Road as an official City park named “Bay Street Commons.” (1st District)

WHEREAS, the property known as 6008 Rear Howard Road and identified as Tax Parcel No. W021-0306/019 in the 2024 records of the City Assessor, is currently owned by the City; and
WHEREAS, section 8-12 of the Code of the City of Richmond (2020), as amended, provides for the designation of the use of City-owned real estate by the City Council; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Richmond that the City Council officially designate such property as a City park for its protection and preservation as a natural area for future recreational enjoyment;
NOW, THEREFORE,
THE CITY OF RICHMOND HEREBY ORDAINS:
§ 1. That the City-owned property known as 6008 Rear Howard Road and identified as Tax Parcel No. W021-0306/019 in the 2024 records of the City Assessor is hereby designated and established as a City park and placed into the City’s park system.
§ 2. That, notwithstanding the provisions of sections 8-9 and 8-10 of the Code of the City of Richmond (2020), as amended, to the contrary, the park established pursuant to section 1 of this ordinance shall be named “Bay Street Commons.”
§ 3. This ordinance shall be in force and effect upon adoption.
