To erect two additional stop signs at the intersection of Nottoway Avenue and Fauquier Avenue for the purpose of making the intersection an all-way stop. (3rd District)

WHEREAS, the intersection of Nottoway Avenue and Fauquier is located in a populous residential area of the city; and
WHEREAS, upon information and belief of the Council, area residents have expressed a desire for all-way stop signs at the intersection of Nottoway Avenue and Fauquier Avenue; and
WHEREAS, it is the consensus of the Council that it would be in the best interest of the citizens of the city of Richmond and especially the citizens who reside near the aforesaid intersection to erect two additional stops signs at said intersection; and
WHEREAS, section 2-428 of the Code of the City of Richmond (2020), as amended, requires an appropriate study by the Department of Public Works prior to the adoption of an ordinance regulating motor vehicle traffic within the city; and
WHEREAS, this ordinance has been properly referred to the Department of Public Works and more than 60 days have elapsed since such referral or the Department of Public Works has submitted its report to the City Clerk;
THE CITY OF RICHMOND HEREBY ORDAINS:
§ 1. That two additional stop signs shall be installed at the intersection of Nottoway Avenue and Fauquier Avenue for the purpose of making the intersection an all-way stop by no later than 180 days after the date of the adoption of this ordinance.
§ 2. This ordinance shall be in force and effect upon adoption or such other date as may be fixed by traffic order of the Director of Public Works if, prior to adoption, the two additional stop signs have been installed at the intersection of Nottoway Avenue and Fauquier Avenue.
