To adopt the City of Richmond RVAgreen 2050: Climate Equity Action Plan 2030 as the official sustainability plan for the City of Richmond in accordance with Res. No. 2021-R049, adopted Sept. 13, 2021.

WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 2021-R049, adopted September 13, 2021, the Council expressed the commitment to pursue the goals set forth in the City’s RVA Green 2050 plan detailing the actions and strategies necessary to implement climate crisis response, climate mitigation, resilience, adaptation, engagement, education, advocacy, and research and development programs in the city of Richmond; and
WHEREAS, the City’s Office of Sustainability has prepared a City of Richmond RVAgreen 2050: Climate Equity Action Plan 2030 for adoption and implementation as the City’s official sustainability plan; and
WHEREAS, the City of Richmond RVAgreen 2050: Climate Equity Action Plan 2030 is an equity-centered, community based, integrated climate action and climate resilience plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the city of Richmond by 45 percent by 2030, to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, and to help the community adapt to the city of Richmond’s climate impacts of extreme heat, precipitation, and flooding, all in alignment with the goals of the City of Richmond’s Equity Agenda, the City’s Master Plan entitled “Richmond 300: A Guide for Growth,” and other City initiatives; and
WHEREAS, the Council believes that it is in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Richmond that the Council adopt the City of Richmond RVAgreen 2050: Climate Equity Action Plan 2030 as the official sustainability plan for the City of Richmond in accordance with Res. No. 2021-R049, adopted September 13, 2021;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND:
That the City of Richmond RVAgreen 2050: Climate Equity Action Plan 2030, a copy of which is attached to this resolution, is hereby adopted in accordance with Resolution No. 2021-R049, adopted September 13, 2021, as the official sustainability plan for the City of Richmond.
