WHEREAS, the Council supported the development of a Vision Zero traffic safety program in the City of Richmond by Resolution No. 2016-R011, adopted March 7, 2016, and reaffirmed its support through Resolution No. 2017-R093, adopted March 12, 2018, to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries in road traffic to zero by the year 2030, through comprehensive planning including promoting improvements in surface transportation performance and safety for travelers; and
WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 2021-R032, adopted June 14, 2022, the Mayor and the Council expressed support for the City of Richmond's Equity Agenda, which supports, among other things, efforts to secure funding for a "North/South BRT;" and
WHEREAS, the Council believes that it is in the best interests of the residents of the City of Richmond that the Council request that the Chief Administrative Officer cause the preparation of an analysis for public review of the existing infrastructure along the proposed "North/South BRT" corridors for the purpose of ensuring that residents residing south of the James River have safe and serviceable access to existing and future public transit networks;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND:
That the Chief Administrative Officer is requested to cause the preparation of an analysis for public review of the existing infrastructure along the proposed "North/South BRT" corridors for the purpose of ensuring that residents residing south of the James River have safe and serviceable access to existing and future public transit networks that includes consideration of ...
