No. 2000-R111-109, adopted Jul. 24, 2000, Res. 2003-R132-123, adopted Jul. 14, 2003, Res. No. 2003-R155-141, adopted Sept. 8, 2003, and Res. No. 2004-R125-131, adopted Jun. 28, 2004, concerning the creation, composition, terms of office, duties, and functions of the Commission; and to terminate the terms of the Commission’s members.

WHEREAS, by Resolution No. 98-R102-107, adopted July 13, 1998, the City Council established the Slave Trail Commission for the purpose of approving “an information center and display to be designed and constructed with public and private donations” at the Manchester Docks; and

WHEREAS, the Slave Trail Commission has performed this function; and

WHEREAS, the City Council believes that the Slave Trail Commission has fulfilled its charge and is no longer needed and that it is therefore in the best interests of the City of Richmond that the Slave Trail Commission be abolished;

NOW, THEREFORE,

THE CITY OF RICHMOND HEREBY ORDAINS:

§ 1.                     That those portions of Resolution No. 98-R102-107, adopted July 13, 1998, as amended by Resolution No. 2000-R111-109, adopted July 24, 2000, Resolution No. 2003-R132-123, adopted July 14, 2003, Resolution No. 2003-R155-141, adopted September 8, 2003, and Resolution No. 2004-R125-131, adopted June 28, 2004, concerning the creation, composition, terms of office, duties, and functions of the Slave Trail Commission, shall be and are hereby repealed.

                     § 2.                     That (i) the Slave Trail Commission is hereby abolished, and (ii) the terms of the members of the Slave Trail Commission be and are hereby terminated.

§ 3.                     This ordinance shall be in force and effect upon adoption.
