To adopt an equitable affordable housing plan for the City entitled “One Richmond: An Equitable Affordable Housing Plan.”

WHEREAS, to address the challenges in providing inclusive, equitable, and affordable housing to all residents of the city of Richmond, the Master Plan entitled “Richmond 300: A Guide for Growth” included a Goal 14 which provided for efforts to implement solutions to these housing challenges; and
WHEREAS, in keeping with Goal 14 of the Master Plan, an equitable affordable housing plan was developed for the City entitled “One Richmond: An Equitable Affordable Housing Plan,” prepared by the Department of Housing and Community Development and dated January 4, 2022 (hereinafter, the “Plan”), a copy of which is attached to this resolution; and
WHEREAS, the Plan is a strategic framework outlining how, over the next ten years, the City will meet its goal to provide housing and services across all spectrums and meet the housing needs of the residents in the city of Richmond including residents seeking shelter, residents with special needs, residents facing displacement, and residents seeking affordable rental opportunities; and
WHEREAS, the Council believes that it is in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Richmond that the Council adopt the Plan;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND:
That the Council hereby adopts the equitable affordable housing plan entitled “One Richmond: An Equitable Affordable Housing Plan,” prepared by the Department of Housing and Community Development, and dated January 4, 2022, a copy of which is attached to this resolution.
