Title

To request that the Chief Administrative Officer cause to be prepared an affordable housing plan for each Council District that distributes as equally as possible affordable housing options across the Council Districts for the purpose fostering inclusive, equitable communities in all areas of the city of Richmond.

Body

WHEREAS, upon information and belief of the Council, the document entitled “2020 Biennial Real Estate Strategies Plan,” approved by Council by Resolution No. 2021-R024, adopted April 26, 2021,  indicates that 76 City-owned parcels are  dedicated to affordable housing; however, a majority of the 76 City-owned parcels are concentrated in the 6^th Council District; and

WHEREAS, Council is of the opinion that only by distributing as equally as possible affordable housing options across the Council Districts can the creation of inclusive, equitable communities in all areas of the city of Richmond be fostered; and

WHEREAS, the Council believes that it is in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Richmond that the Council request that the Chief Administrative Officer cause to be prepared an affordable housing plan for each Council District that distributes as equally as possible affordable housing options across the Council Districts for the purpose fostering inclusive, equitable communities in all areas of the city of Richmond;

NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND:

That the Council hereby requests that the Chief Administrative Officer cause to be prepared an affordable housing plan for each Council District that distributes as equally as possible affordable housing options across the Council Districts for the purpose fostering inclusive, equitable communities in all areas of the city of Richmond.
