WHEREAS, on March 6, 2020, the Mayor introduced a proposed General Fund Budget for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2020, and ending June 30, 2021, which appropriated $3,500,000 for the Affordable Housing Trust Fund and $686,480 for the Eviction Diversion Program; and
WHEREAS, on April 13, 2020, in response to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mayor introduced an amended General Fund Budget for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2020, and ending June 30, 2021, which reflected reduced appropriations to the Affordable Housing Trust Fund from $3,500,000 to $2,900,000 and reduced appropriations to the Eviction Diversion Program from $686,480 to $485,140; and
WHEREAS, the Council believes that it is in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Richmond that the Council request that the Mayor introduce such budget amendments as may be necessary to restore funding for the Affordable Housing Trust Fund and Eviction Diversion Program to the amounts proposed in the General Fund Budget for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2020, and ending June 30, 2021, introduced on March 6, 2020, in the event that City revenues exceed current projections for the fiscal year commencing July 1, 2020, and ending June 30, 2021;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND:
