Creating the Richmond Ambulance Authority.

WHEREAS, Council has previously determined it to be in the
best interests of the City to create and to regulate a unified
emergency medical services system in order to preserve, protect and promote the public health, safety and welfare, which determination is hereby reaffirmed; and
WHEREAS, in furtherance of that goal, it is also in the best interests of the City to have such emergency medical services provided primarily through a local ambulance authority; and
WHEREAS, the City has been empowered and authorized to create a local ambulance authority by the General Assembly of Virginia pursuant to the Richmond Ambulance Authority Act:
HOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOHD:
1. That the City of Richmond does hereby create and organize a public authority named the Richmond Ambulance Authority, pursuant to the provisions of the Richmond Ambulance Authority Act, Chapter 431 of the 1991 Acts of Assembly.
