WHEREAS, the properties, with tax parcel numbers as shown in the 2022 records of the City Assessor and listed on the document entitled “Parcels to be Added to ‘Samuel Pleasants Parsons Linear Park,’” a copy of which is incorporated into and made a part of this ordinance, are currently owned by the City; and

WHEREAS, section 8-12 of the Code of the City of Richmond (2020), as amended, provides for the designation of the use of City-owned real estate by the City Council; and

                     WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Richmond that the City Council officially designate such surplus property as a City park for its protection and preservation as natural areas for future recreational enjoyment;

NOW, THEREFORE,

THE CITY OF RICHMOND HEREBY ORDAINS:

                     § 1.                     That the City-owned properties, with tax parcel numbers as shown in the 2022 records of the City Assessor and listed on the document entitled “Parcels to be Added to ‘Samuel Pleasants Parsons Linear Park,’” a copy of which is incorporated into and made a part of this ordinance, are hereby designated and established as a City park and placed into the City’s park system.

                     § 2.                     That, notwithstanding the provisions of sections 8-9 and 8-10 of the Code of the City of Richmond (2020), as amended, to the contrary, the park established pursuant to section 1 of this ordinance shall be named “Samuel Pleasants Parsons Linear Park.”

                     § 3.                     That Resolution No. 2003-R37-32, adopted February 24, 2003, which named a portion of the property known as Linear Park as “Samuel P. Parsons Park,” is hereby repealed.

                     § 4.                     This ordinance shall be in force and effect upon adoption.
