Title

To request that the Chief Administrative Officer cause to be conducted a study of the official zoning map for the purpose of designating the area known as the Jackson Ward neighborhood as a design overlay district. (2nd District)

Body

WHEREAS, upon information and belief of Council, residents of and businesses located within the area known as the Jackson Ward neighborhood, the boundaries of which are set forth in section 30-930.5:14 of the Code of the City of Richmond (2020), as amended (hereinafter referred to as the “Jackson Ward Neighborhood”), have expressed the desire to protect the character of that neighborhood and its history by designating such area as a design overlay district; and

WHEREAS, the Council believes that it is in the best interests of the residents and businesses located in the Jackson Ward Neighborhood that the Council request that the Chief Administrative Officer cause to be conducted a study of the official zoning map for the purpose of designating the Jackson Ward Neighborhood as a design overlay district;

NOW, THEREFORE,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND:

                     That the Council hereby requests that the Chief Administrative Officer cause to be conducted a study of the official zoning map for the purpose of designating the Jackson Ward Neighborhood as a design overlay district.
